This project was to design a visitor center for a wooded site in central Maine.  The concept of this project was to understand and to be able to spatially represent the feelings of the site.  Realizing a relationship between my experience of the site and the experience expressed in Bach’s Arioso, I used the music of Arioso as a medium to explore what it was that created such feelings.  Through a series of diagrammatic models, gestural drawings, and analyses of the music, I derived the spatial form of five structures spread across the site.  These structures took on the vernacular of a local Maine barn, with steeply pitched roofs and wood siding.
